    SPECIALTY PROJECTS

ADA & braille, one-off art, and the jobs nobody else will tackle.

    2 Projects

Wayfinding and ADA signs are the interior and exterior signs that help people navigate a building, find a room, identify an exit, or read a directory in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act. They're the most heavily-regulated sign category we produce — every permanent room identifier in a commercial building must meet specific tactile, visual contrast, mounting height, and Grade 2 Braille requirements. We build complete wayfinding programs for healthcare campuses, multifamily communities, corporate offices, schools, and hospitality projects across the tri-state.

    Materials & Construction

Most ADA signs use raster-engraved photopolymer or routed acrylic substrates with raised tactile copy at minimum 1/32″ of relief and integrated Grade 2 Braille beads. We standardize on satin or matte finishes (the ADA requires non-glare surfaces) and color-contrast verified pairings. For larger directories and dimensional wayfinding we use brushed aluminum, dimensional acrylic letters, and printed second-surface graphics on tempered glass. All ADA signs are mounted at 48″–60″ AFF on the latch side of the door per ADAAG 703.

    Common Use Cases

    • Hospital and medical office room identification
    • Apartment and condo unit numbering
    • Corporate office wayfinding and directories
    • School classroom and corridor signage
    • Hotel guestroom and amenity signage
    • Restroom, exit, and life-safety identification

    Code & Permit Considerations

ADA signs themselves typically don't require a permit, but they do require code compliance — ADAAG sections 216 and 703, plus state and local accessibility codes. For new construction and tenant improvements, the AHJ (building inspector) verifies sign compliance as part of the certificate of occupancy. We provide a code-compliant sign package with mounting heights, finish specifications, and a stamped sign schedule when the project requires it.

    Pricing Range

    $200 – $2,000 per sign

Standard tactile room signs run $40–$150 each in volume. Larger custom directories, illuminated wayfinding, dimensional lobby identifiers, and exterior wayfinding monuments can run $500–$2,000 each. Full building programs are typically priced per the sign schedule with volume pricing.

    Lifespan & Maintenance

Photopolymer ADA signs last the life of the building when mounted indoors — 20+ years. Exterior wayfinding lasts 10–15 years before vinyl or finishes need refresh. Maintenance is essentially zero beyond cleaning with a non-abrasive product.
